Biography
Graduating from the Institut français de la Mode with a degree in fashion design, I spent seven years working in luxury ready-to-wear. At the Pierre Balmain haute couture house in Paris, I held the position of first assistant stylist under the artistic direction of Bernard Sanz. Following a trip to Réunion Island, I settled there in 1999.
In 2000, I founded the graphic design studio and digital agency Blue Room in Saint-Denis, where I work as a graphic designer and web developer — two skills I acquired entirely self-taught.
In 2007, I began my first personal artistic works under the pseudonym Papangue Project. Through various media — 3D, video, motion design and digital printing — my work explores the relationship between humanity and technology. Influenced by the symbolism of geometry and typography, as well as the science fiction and dystopian worlds of Philip K. Dick, my works, often dark, question these themes.
Sensitive to the condition of the designer and their place in society, I became a member and regional representative of Alliance France Design in 2014. In 2022, I joined the team responsible for prefiguring the future visual arts hub, which gave birth to REZOM, the association of visual arts practitioners in Réunion Island, of which I am a member and vice-president.
The music also runs through my universe, I perform as Papangue DJ, projecting my visual works live during sets, creating an experience where sound and image form a coherent whole.
Artist statement
My artistic work draws its influences from the symbolism of geometry and typography, and the dystopian worlds of science-fiction author
Philip K. Dick. Through various media : video, generative art, digital printing, I explore the growing tension between humanity and
technology. This exploration also extends into audiovisual performances where my visual works are projected live, making sound and image
a common language.
The early 21st century has been marked by unprecedented digital upheavals: the democratisation of web 2.0, the dominance of social networks, and the explosion of artificial intelligence. Faced with this technological revolution, a fundamental question emerges: what place remains for art and for the human?
My artistic exploration revolves around several visual elements: refined geometric forms, the striking contrast between the colours of a nocturnal atmosphere and the vivid flashes of advertising neon lights, as well as the symbolic power of typography and the reinterpretation of classical works. These aesthetic choices allow me
to question our contemporary world, its growing technological dependence, revealing the excesses of a consumerism that has become obsessional.
